How Does Auto-Align 2 Work?

Hello.

I’m learning about phase alignment and trying to understand how Auto-Align 2 works.

If I have two audio tracks that are out of phase, does Auto-Align 2 adjust specific parts of one signal to align with the other? Or does it analyze and shift the entire signal to bring them into phase?

Thanks

Hi there,
Assuming only two tracks are being aligned,
Auto-Align 2 analyzes the provided content and finds the most suitable offset (making the signal delayed or ahead) and spectral phase adjustments (adjusting phase offsets within the frequency spectrum).

Those adjustments (offset and spectral phase) are applied statically, meaning they’re kept for the entire track for any signal being processed through Auto-Align 2.

As Auto-Align 2 is designed for creative professionals, in addition to other possible adjustments (different peformance time, nudging to other aligned offsets), it does support doing time (only offset being applied) or spectral phase only alignments.

Noteworthy,
For post-production usage, there’s a separate product which is Auto-Align Post 2 and supports dynamic adjustments.

Thanks for the information… :+1:t4:
