Can it be used on clips vs. entire tracks, e.g. on edit selections of boom and lav clips?

Is there a way to use Auto Align 2 on edit selections of clips in Pro Tools, so that the time and phase corrections are applied ONLY to the clips in the edit selection, i.e. they don’t modify any other clips on the same tracks? For example, if I have boom on track 1, lav on track 2, and several scenes that share these tracks, can I correct the clips in Scene 1, commit, then move to Scene 2 (where the phase relationships are different), correct, etc. without disturbing the clips in from previous scenes on the same tracks?

I know Auto Align Post 2 is a quicker tool for scenarios like this, but I’m looking for a solution using the tools I have. Thanks!

Hi @jessegay,

Thanks for your message.

Unfortunately, no. Auto-Align 2 is track-based (rather than clip-based), so any changes it makes apply to the whole track.

Also note that Auto-Align 2’s correction is static.

In post-production, the actor and mics usually move around during the scene - Auto-Align Post 2 can be applied to specific clips, and the Time and Spectral corrections are dynamic, so they adapt in real time to any changes.

We’re having a Summer Solstice Sale at the moment and there’s also a special offer for Auto-Align 2 license owners:

If you have any questions, let me know.

Best,
Oran

Thanks for the clarification,
