AAP Workflow in Fairlight

Hi all! I’m learning to use Fairlight, and trying to wrap my head around what my AAP-workflow would be like. I’m used to the audiosuite-workflow in Pro Tools, where I just select a clip, select the reference track, render, and be done with it.

In Fairlight, I cannot select an individual clip to be aligned, I have to select a whole track instead. So, what if I’m 90minutes into a feature film, with tons of dialogue that has already been aligned? I don’t want AAP to analyze 90min of material just to align a single clip. And I don’t want to accidentally mess up any material, that’s already been aligned.

Do you move the clip that you want to align to an empty track (maybe a specific track just for alignments)? Will the alignment process become really slow in a large project? Do I also need to move the reference clip to an empty track?

If anyone cares to share their process or best practices, that would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi @mikko.roisko,

Thanks for your message.

Sounds like moving the specific clip(s) you’d like to align is the way to go.
There’s no need to also move the reference clips.

Best,
