Are we ever going to get NO artifacts? Maybe via Offline Rendering?

Wobbles on 90% of use cases, and I’m talking really theoretically easy case like two vocal tracks singing the same exact thing in the same exact way, or two sustained rounding-sounding overdriven guitars doing single note melodies. Only scenarios I could get usually little to no significant wobbling is drums, but I assume that’s solely because drum sounds are too quick to notice the wobbling.

This plugin hasn’t been truly updated in years. You could, say, enable Lookahead to maximum, but that hardly changes anything. Can’t you at least give a way to get no wobbles via some offline situation that could take however much latency it would need? How is this not easily doable on your end?

For years I’ve been so frustrated with every purchase I’ve made from Sound Radix either not working like it’s supposed to, being very buggy, or just very harsh sound quality (looking at SurferEQ for simple EQ), so much that I don’t use any of them anymore aside from the very infrequent scenarios where I desperately attempt to get any benefit out of Pi or the occasional times I’m wanting to tighten and dry up drum sounds via Auto-Align (1) (also buggy as hell).

Hi audiobuurma,

Thanks for your message and sorry to hear you’re running into these issues.

Pitch/warble artifacts are a known challenge with sustained tones and Pi’s dynamic phase rotaion. Here are a few quick things to try that usually solve this:

  • Gain Staging / CHNL GAIN: Pitch artifacts can happen if low-end heavy instruments are too significant in the levels Pi “sees,” which pulls lighter instruments along.
If inserted pre-fader, dial the track’s CHNL GAIN in Pi down to match its weight in the mix and set its mixer fader to unity gain. (It’s okay to adjust the mixer fader, just try to avoid a big difference between the track’s place in the mix and the gain Pi receives).

  • LF Mode: Switch to LF mode so phase rotation is more focused on the low frequencies.

  • Channel Weight: Increase the Channel Weight parameter on the affected track while listening to the entire mix until the artifacts are no longer audible.

If these don’t resolve it and you have a simple project demonstrating the issue (e.g., two vocal or guitar tracks), please send it over to support@soundradix.com so we can reproduce and take a closer look.

Best,

Oran
