All tracks recommended to have polarity flipped

Hi,

If AA2 recommends all tracks in a group have their polarity inverted with no other spectral changes, is there any way to override that, or is flipping the polarity on every track doing something more than the obvious?

Also, if it recommends, for instance, 3 of 4 tracks have their polarity inverted (including the one set as Performance Time), can you “invert” that selection and just flip the polarity of the one other track, or again would that not give you the same overall result? I hope that makes sense!

Cheers,

Tom

Hi @tomadrichardson,

Thanks for your message.

Auto-Align 2’s Phase Alignment module enforces Absolute Phase. That’s why it might suggest reversing the polarity on all the tracks - This ensures that positive pressure from the mic is accurately represented as positive pressure from your speakers or headphones.

Sometimes, the polarity of a signal is reversed somewhere in the signal chain. When this happens, the first transient that should push the speaker driver outward might instead pull it inward.

A handy ‘Flip Group Polarity’ option is available if you right-click the three dots next to the group’s header.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks,

Oran

I hadn’t noticed that option, but thank you for the explanation!
